MINNETONKA, MN – Cooking Club magazine, a specialty publication dedicated to cooking enthusiasts, found the recipe for success by winning a Gold and two Silver Awards at the Excellence Awards Gala sponsored by the Minnesota Magazine & Publishing Association in Minneapolis on November 3, 2011. Cooking Club’s awards spanned both print and digital categories, demonstrating the publication’s highly effective strategy to reach its readership in both traditional and electronic formats.

Betsy Wray, editor of Cooking Club, accepted awards in three separate categories on behalf of the magazine.  The Gold Award was given in the “Regular Column Special Interest” category.  The Silver Awards were given in the “Cover Design/Special Interest for Publications Over 60,000 in Readership” and “E-Newsletter General Interest/Special Interest” categories.  Winning a single award at the Excellence Awards Gala is a high honor; winning three awards places Cooking Club in a prestigious position among magazine titles.

Cooking Club won its Gold Award for a regular feature called “Cook’s Notebook,” a column where cooks receive little-known tips to enhance their culinary skills.  In a recent issue, Cooking Club demonstrated how to add decorative patterns to the edge of a piecrust.  Detailed photos showed how to transform a piecrust edge with a choice of four different patterns: fringed, leaves, scalloped or decorative circles.  “Cook’s Notebook” is written to provide unique and specialized techniques used by masters of the culinary arts.

Cooking Club won Silver Awards for its e-newsletter called “foodnow” and the cover of its February/March issue of the print magazine.   “foodnow comes as a daily e-mail with tasty recipes, reviews of innovative new kitchen tools, and the latest discoveries in the culinary world.  The cover of the February/March issue of Cooking Club featured a taste-tempting photo of a warm loaf of artisan bread on a wood cutting board.
