The History Channel Magazine Wins Two Prestigious Awards at Excellence Awards Gala
NAMG Inc.
posted on December 08, 2011 09:54
MINNETONKA, MN – The History Channel Magazine, a co-branded publication associated with the popular television network, won Silver and Bronze Awards at the Excellence Awards Gala sponsored by the Minnesota Magazine & Publishing Association in Minneapolis on November 3, 2011. Both awards were given for the “Editor’s Letter to the Readers” column written by Jim Tarbox, who serves as the editor of The History Channel Magazine.
The “Editor’s Letter to the Readers” column gives editor Jim Tarbox a chance to reflect on the theme of the magazine or other topical issues. A column titled “History at 12 mph” won the Silver Award, while a column titled “Are We Out of Ideas” took home the Bronze Award. “History at 12 mph” examined the benefits of exploring history at a slower pace while riding a bicycle. Tarbox cited the opportunities to see out-of-the-way places up close and unrushed. “Are We Out of Ideas” explored America’s historical and contemporary role as a leader in innovation, while also considering the new competitive global pressures faced by the United States today.
